Logistics Options for European Customers

These options do not apply to customers in the United Kingdom.

Requirements for sample preparation can be found in our Sample Submission Guidelines according to your selected service type.

In case you would like to prepay, order your sequencing barcodes in CLIMS before submitting your samples to GENEWIZ using logistics option A, B or C.

Here you will find all information on how to submit your sequencing samples to our GENEWIZ Europe facility in Leipzig, Germany.

A. Use a GENEWIZ Dropbox

Drop your sequencing samples at the GENEWIZ Dropbox allocated to your institute and have your samples collected free of extra charge.

Your GENEWIZ Dropbox will be allocated to your institute once you have registered on our online order platform CLIMS. When you’re logged into your CLIMS customer account, your Dropbox location and pickup times will be displayed.

No Dropbox listed? Submit your samples using Logistics Option B described below.

Sample and Shipment Preparation

Preparation requirements depend on which type of GENEWIZ Dropbox is available at your location:

  • DHL Express Dropboxes: Samples must be packaged with a DHL label and ready to ship.
  • Hosted GENEWIZ Dropboxes: These are also processed by DHL Express, but you do not need to prepare a separate sample shipment. Pack your samples securely in a GENEWIZ case and either place them in the Dropbox or give them to your institution’s host. Individual shipping envelopes and DHL labels are not sent to individual customers for hosted Dropboxes.

Check your CLIMS account for additional information about which type of GENEWIZ Dropbox is available at your location.

B. Book a DHL Express Pickup

Book an individual DHL Express pickup at a time suitable for you and hand over your samples ready-to-ship to a DHL Express courier.

If a GENEWIZ Dropbox is not available at your location, GENEWIZ will provide you with a certain number of shipping kits free of charge together with your ordered Sanger sequencing barcodes.

You can book an individual DHL Express Pickup by logging into your customer account and navigating to our > Sanger Sequencing > ”Logistics Option” section. Please follow the instructions and enter the waybill number provided to you to schedule a date and time for pickup of your samples.

Your samples will be picked up by DHL Express and transported quickly to our Sanger sequencing lab in Leipzig (the barcode on the DHL Express return label codes for the Leipzig facility address – regardless of location stated on the label).

For sample submission, GENEWIZ will provide you with a shipping kit together with your ordered Sanger sequencing barcodes according to your order volume and delivery type.

We will provide you with 4 shipping kits per 100 reactions submitted in tubes and the following shipping kits depending on your selected service type:

  • Sanger Sequencing: 2 shipping kits per 100 reactions submitted in Vario plates, with 3 shipping kits per 10 plate submission. The minimal sample number per shipment is 20-30 samples.

  • Whole Plasmid & Long-Read PCR Sequencing: 3 shipping kits per 10 plate submission.

We can provide additional DHL Express shipping labels for a charge of €15 per label in case you require more labels than provided.

Shipping Kits Include

  • GENEWIZ cases for securely packing sample tubes or plates
  • GENEWIZ express shipping bags, including recyclable paper bags or DHL Express plastic flyers
  • DHL Express prepaid return labels, when required
  • Shipping instructions sent by email

Please note: An activation of the DHL label is required before shipping for all parcels from non-EU countries to our facility in Germany.

C. Send Samples by Your Own Means

For Sanger sequencing orders submitted with our STANDARD delivery (white barcode labels) or when no GENEWIZ Dropbox is available, you can also ship your samples to GENEWIZ by your own means. Please use GENEWIZ Cases or padded envelopes to pack your samples safely.
