    Cookie Data Protection Policy

    LAST UPDATED: 17 JULY 2025

This Cookie Data Protection Statement (“Statement”) serves to describe how we, Azenta, Inc. (“Azenta”, “we”, “us”, “our”) and all of its operating companies globally, process your personal data, through https://www.azenta.com/ and other websites that we operate and that include a direct link to this Statement (collectively, the “Sites”).

The following information applies to the use of cookies and similar technologies by us. The information herein should be complemented with the general Website Privacy Policy.

How Are We Collecting Usage Data?

When you visit our website, the data collected from your use of the website is temporarily stored on our web server for statistical purposes to improve the quality of our website. This data set contains:

    • The name and address of the requested content,
    • The date and time of the query of the transferred data volume,
    • The access status (content transferred, content not found),
    • The description of the used web browser and operating system,
    • The referral link, which indicates from which page you reached ours,
    • The IP address of your user’s device shortened to such an extent that no reidentification of any personal data is possible

The legal basis for processing these usage data is Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR. We will not process your usage data for a period longer than the duration of the session or seven days.

What Are Cookies & Similar Technologies?

Our website uses cookies. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored and read in your end-device. Software on your device – e.g. web browser – can store cookies and send them back when you visit the website a second time.

Cookies may contain data that enables the recognition of the device being used. However, in some cases cookies only contain information on certain settings that do not allow us to re-identify you. Some cookies may be required to enable the user guidance, security and execution of the site.

If a website is developed, there are different options to gain access to the information you store on your device or we store some information to understand your interests more comprehensively. Some are implemented via cookies and others via similar technologies which process your personal data. We also use similar technologies which are very similar to cookies but are achieved by other means (for example Local Shared Objects, fingerprinting techniques, etc.).

    Categories of Cookies

Cookies and other technologies can serve different purposes of processing. Our website uses different categories of cookies and similar technologies as detailed below. We make sure to inform you about how we use each of the technologies on our website.

    Session Cookies

Cookies which are deleted when you close your browser.

    Persistent/Permanent Cookies

Cookies which are stored even after your visit has expired.

    First-party Cookies

Cookies placed directly by the website the user is visiting.

    Third-party Cookies

If a domain other than the one the user is visiting places the cookie, this would be considered a third-party cookie. A third-party cookie is usually set when an element from another website is incorporated, and the browser fetches the element from other sites. It may include, for example, images, advertisements, or cookies.

Cookies can remain on your device for different periods of time. We inform you about the duration of the storage of each cookie in the tables below.

What Is the Legal Basis for Processing Cookies?

When processing “strictly necessary cookies and similar technologies” we will do it in accordance with our legitimate purposes explained below in accordance with Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR.

With regards to any other category of cookies or similar technologies, we process your personal data based on your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) a) GDPR. We will, in those cases, obtain your previous consent and record it through our cookie banner.

    Update Your Cookie Preferences

You have the option to Customize Settings. Please note that if certain cookies or similar technologies are deactivated for our website, it may no longer be possible to use all the functions that the website offers.

What Cookies Do We Use and How Do We Use Them?

Strictly Necessary Cookies & Similar Technologies

Strictly necessary cookies are essential to provide you with the services that you request within our website. Those include technical resources to ensure that the page is loaded quickly and that you are able to view our page on different devices.

We may also use strictly necessary cookies to comply with our obligations such as obtaining and recording your consent. Those cookies store different categories of personal data which depend on the scope, purpose and retention period of the cookie or similar technology.

The information may contain your shortened IP address, information about your behaviour on our website, referral information which explains how you accessed our website or other details such as information relating to the device you use.

The legal basis for the processing of personal data regarding the use of cookies necessary for technical reasons is our legitimate interest to provide you with the information, products and services in our website (Art. 6 (1) f) GDPR).

If a cookie setting is important rather than strictly necessary, we will obtain your consent. We do not use strictly necessary cookies or similar technologies for analytical, tracking or advertisement purposes.

Targeting Cookies, Third-party Tracking for Advertising, & Similar Technologies

We use cross-device tracking technologies to help us show you targeted advertising on other websites based on your visit to our websites and to help us determine how effective our advertising efforts have been. If you opt out, you may still see ads, though they may be less relevant to you. You will need to renew this choice each time you clear your cookies or use a new browser or device.

The legal basis for this data processing is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) of the GDPR or §15 S. 3 Nr. 1 German Telemedia Act (TMG) if you have given your consent via our consent banner.

Your consent is voluntary and can be withdrawn at any time.

    What Is Tracking?

When you visit our websites, it is possible that the third-party providers listed below may call up recognition features for your browser or end device (e.g. a browser fingerprint), evaluate your IP address, save or review recognition features on your end device (e.g. cookies) or gain access to individual tracking pixels. Your individual features can be used by third parties to recognize your end device on other Internet sites. We may request the relevant third-party providers to display advertisements based on the pages visited on our website.

    What Does Cross-device Tracking Mean?

If you log in to the third-party provider with your own user data, the recognition features of different browsers and end devices can be linked with each other. For example, if the third-party provider has created a separate feature for each of the laptops, desktop PCs, smartphones or tablets you use, these individual features can be assigned to each other as soon as you use a third-party service with your log-in data. This allows the third party to target our advertising campaigns across multiple devices.

Which Third-party Providers Do We Use in This Context?

The third-party providers with whom we work for advertising purposes are listed below. If the data is processed outside the EU or EEA in this context, please note that there is a risk that local authorities may access the data for security and monitoring purposes without you being informed or having the right to appeal. Where we use providers in third countries without an adequate level of protection and you give your consent, the transfer to this third country is based on Art. 49(1)(a) GDPR. To withdraw your consent, please change the appropriate settings via our website banner.

    Google Analytics

We use the web analysis tool “Google Analytics” to design our websites according to your needs. Google Analytics creates user profiles based on pseudonyms. For this purpose, permanent cookies are stored on your end device and accessed out by us. In this way we are able to recognize and measure returning visitors.

The Google Analytics tool is provided by Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC. (USA) who support us as processors according to Art. 28 of the GDPR. The data processing can therefore also take place outside the EU or EEA. With regard to Google LLC (USA), no adequate level of data protection can be assumed due to the processing in the USA. There is a risk that authorities may access the data for security and surveillance purposes without you being informed or having the right to appeal. Please take this into account if you decide to give your consent to our use of Google Analytics.

The legal basis for this data processing is your consent in accordance with Art. 6 (1) (a) of the GDPR or §15 S. 3 Nr. 1 German Telemedia Act (TMG), if you have given your consent via our consent banner. The transfer to a third country takes place on the basis of Art. 49(1) (a) of the GDPR.

You can withdraw your consent at any time. Please access our banner and update your preferences.

    Data Transfers & Recipients

We will not disclose your personal information to third parties except:

    • with your consent;
    • to our subsidiaries, affiliates and service providers to fulfil services or order requests, or otherwise to fulfil a contractual obligation to you including, but not limited to, providing customer service, sending marketing communications about our products, services, and offers, and performing technological maintenance
    • as required by applicable law;
    • if required by court order or subpoena;
    • to public authorities to protect you, us, or third parties from harm; or
    • to a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or other sale or transfer of some or all of Azenta’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation or similar proceeding.

Azenta hosts and stores personal information in databases in locations throughout the world, but primarily in the United States. We transfer your data to service providers who support us in the operation of our websites and related processes. These service providers are usually data processors within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR. Our service providers are strictly bound by contracts and our instructions. Azenta also hosts personal information through vendor platforms hosted on an internet cloud. This means that personal information may be transferred to, and processed in, countries other than the country in which you are resident. These countries may have data protection laws which are different to the laws of your country and, in some cases may not be as protective. In some countries, there is a risk that authorities may access the data for security and surveillance purposes without informing you or allowing you to take legal action.

However, Azenta has taken appropriate safeguards to ensure that adequate protection is provided to such data where legally mandated. Azenta has executed EU Standard Contractual Clauses to transfer personal information from the European Economic Area.

    Changes to Our Cookie Statement

We may update this Cookie Statement from time to time in response to changing legal, technical or business developments. When we update our Privacy Statement, we will take appropriate measures to inform you, consistent with the significant of the changes we make. We will obtain your consent to any material changes to this Privacy Statement if and where this is required by applicable data protection laws.

You can see when this Statement was last updated by checking the “last updated” date displayed at the top of this Statement.
