GENEWIZ Introduces CLIA-compliant Next Generation Sequencing Services at ASHG

CLIA Whole Genome and Whole Exome Sequencing Added to CLIA Sanger Service Offerings

SAN DIEGO, CA and SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – October 16, 2018 — ASHG, booth #1237 -- Leading global genomics service provider, GENEWIZ, announced at the American Society of Human Genetics (ASHG) Conference today that it has expanded its CLIA-compliant service offering into next generation sequencing (NGS). ASHG runs through October 20, 2018 at the San Diego Convention Center.

“Our new CLIA-compliant NGS services, including whole genome sequencing and whole exome sequencing, provide sensitive and unbiased detection of genetic variants enabling clinical researchers to answer focused biological questions using genome-scale information,” said Dr. Haythem Latif, Director, Clinical Development Services at GENEWIZ. “Both our next-gen and Sanger sequencing CLIA-compliant workflows ensure high-quality testing and accurate and consistent results.”

All GENEWIZ CLIA services are performed at its New Jersey-based CLIA-certified laboratory using CLIA-qualified equipment. Service levels can include quality assurance oversight and lab director sign-off. Current CLIA-compliant services include:

  • Whole Exome CLIA Sequencing (new) - Enables researchers to probe protein-coding regions of the genome at a high-depth with uniform coverage.

  • Whole Genome CLIA Sequencing (new) - Assists uncovering mutations in coding and non-coding regions, including structural and copy number variants.

  • Sanger CLIA Sequencing - Best designed to elucidate complex regions or confirm variants.

  • Variant Confirmation (PCR plus Sanger Sequencing) - Reliable method for initial analysis or orthogonal confirmation of next generation sequencing, microarrays, or qPCR results.

The Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulate laboratory testing and requires all clinical laboratories be certified by their state and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. The GENEWIZ clinical lab is also accredited by The College of American Pathologists (CAP).
