Fragment Analysis

Fragment analysis encompasses a wide variety of genotyping, DNA profiling, and mutation detection techniques for medical, environmental, and agricultural research. GENEWIZ provides fast and reliable fragment analysis services to researchers in all of these fields. Our highly experienced scientific team can assist you with ready-to-run fragment analysis projects. This service is performed on ABI3730xl's for accurate size calling, consistent band intensities, and low run-to-run migration variations.

Fragment Analysis Applications

  • Microsatellite Analysis - Short Tandem Repeats (STRs) and Variable Nucleotide Tandem Repeats (VNTRs) for genetic mapping, linkage analysis, and tracing inheritance patterns
  • Microsatellite Instability
  • Chimerism Analysis
  • Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) Analysis
  • Terminal Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (T-RFLP) Analysis
  • SNP Genotyping
  • Relative Fluorescent Quantitation - Loss of Heterozygosity (LOH), Aneuploidy Assays, and Large Chromosomal Deletion Detection

Your Benefits Include

  • Fast Turnaround - For most ready-to-run projects 24 - 48 hours from sample receipt
  • Assay - DS-33 (Dye Set G5): 6FAM, PET, NED and VIC with LIZ-500 size standard
  • Platform - Applied Biosystems 3730xl Genetic Analyzers
  • Competitive Pricing - Email mb@genewiz.com for a quotation

How To Order

  1. When developing your assay, we recommend DS-33: 6FAM, PET, NED, and VIC. We reserve the LIZ channel for size standard.
  2. Complete a Fragment Analysis Order Form.
  3. Email the completed form to mb@genewiz.com and print a copy to include with your samples.
  4. Prepare your samples in 8-strip tubes or in a 96-well plate according to our Sample Submission Guidelines. If you have <48 samples, please use 0.2 ml, 8-strip PCR tubes. If you have ≥48 samples, you can get a discount by using a 96-well PCR plate as indicated in the Tubes and Plates Tab of the Sample Submission Guidelines. Please use 8-strip caps for your tubes or wells, and also wrap them with parafilm. This is the best way to keep your samples from drying or cross-contaminating during shipment.
  5. To ship your samples, please contact us for a local GENEWIZ Drop Box or Courier. For San Diego customers contact us to see if you are in our courier pick up area.

If a drop box or courier is not available at your institution, please ship your samples at room temperature with the completed order form via overnight service to:

    GENEWIZ, Inc.
    115 Corporate Blvd.
    South Plainfield, NJ 07080

Caution: We do not receive samples on Saturdays. Please contact GENEWIZ Technical Support at 1-877-436-3949 option 2 before sending samples on a Friday.

  6. Your results will be emailed to you in .fsa format. Feel free to download a freeware copy of Peak Scanner (Applied Biosystems) to analyze your data.
